About the lawyer
My colleagues and I opened Cooper Ginsberg Gray, PLLC with the goal of providing high-quality, effective, dedicated, and cost-effective representation to individuals going through family turmoil. Since 2004, we have worked to become a top family law firm in Northern Virginia. We have accomplished this by placing the needs and desires of our clients first. I am accessible, and will be by your side as you take each step through the legal process. My legal practice is dedicated to helping clients address the family law issues that they face. I strive to lead my clients through the legal, emotional, and financial aspects of the divorce process as efficiently and effectively as possible. When you are looking for someone to help you through a very difficult time in your life, and to help you move forward in a positive way, you can turn to me.My preference is to work with clients whose goal is to resolve the issues arising in their case through settlement. I am comfortable negotiating directly with the other partys attorney, or using alternative dispute resolution approaches such as the Collaborative Process or mediation. I am trained as a collaborative attorney, and I appreciate the benefits of working with a professional team to address all of the legal, emotional, and financial issues that may arise through the Collaborative Process. I help clients navigate the mediation beginning with the selection of a mediator and continuing until its conclusion. In addition, I am a certified mediator.I enjoy working on cases that involve complex financial issues. I have an extensive background in financial issues that began with my undergraduate degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, and continued with courses and research throughout my career. I have handled a number of cases involving closely-held businesses, high-income earners, complex compensation and retirement packages, tracing separate and premarital property, real estate investments, private equity investments, securities, government pensions, and various other investments. My calm and steady demeanor combined with my extensive knowledge of the divorce process will help reduce your anxiety about your divorce. I will take the time to explain how the legal process works, and the legal, negotiation, and strategic options that are available to you, and their pros and cons. My clients are comforted by the fact that they feel fully educated about the legal process and the issues in their case, and this enables my clients to make intelligent decisions about their future.I have developed an extensive network through my experiences as a family law attorney, law school professor, non-profit board member, and active participant in Northern Virginias legal community. I am able to tap into this network to ensure that my clients have access to the contacts and resources to obtain the emotional, financial, or legal assistance that they need.I earned my law degree from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in 1996. I have practiced family law throughout my legal career, but have been handling family law cases exclusively since 1998.I have been honored to be recognized on multiple occasions as one of the areas top divorce lawyers in the Washingtonian Magazine, Arlington Magazine, and Northern Virginia Magazine, a member of the Legal Elite by Virginia Business, and included in The Best Lawyers in America. I earned an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell, a leading peer review rating entity for legal professionals.Since 2012, I have taught Law Practice Management at my alma mater, Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, as an adjunct professor. I recently co-authored How Successful Law Firms Really Work, a book designed to help attorneys set up and run a law practice.I currently serve on the Board of the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia, and am the co-chair of the Fairfax Bar Associations Law Practice Management Committee.
