Jackie S. Gessner - Lawyer in Indianapolis, IN

An employment law attorney with experience in a wide variety of areas, Jackie works with human resource departments, business leaders, owners and managers on an array of workplace issues.

Jackie regularly consults with employers on issues surrounding employee discipline, leave, wage and hour, retaliation, discrimination, harassment and workplace investigations, among others. Jackie advises employers on complying with rapidly changing employment laws and implementing effective practices to avoid workplace issues.

Prior to joining Barnes Thornburg full-time, Jackie was a summer associate and a legislative intern in the firm's Indianapolis office. She also served as a pro bono legal clerk in the Criminal Appellate Division of the Office of the Indiana Attorney General.

Upon graduating from Purdue University, Jackie interned with the Indiana State Senate and worked as a campaign manager for a 2010 Indiana State Senate election campaign. In law school, she served on the executive committee of the IU-McKinney Women's Caucus. She also worked as a mentor through the Student Bar Association and a tutor to first-year students through the Dean's Tutorial Society.
