Emily Tidmore is an appellate lawyer and commercial litigator who has represented clients in complex commercial litigation throughout the country, including in the United States Supreme Court. Her litigation experience includes commercial and labor-and-employment class actions, business torts, intellectual property disputes, transportation regulation, Chapter 9 (municipal) bankruptcy, and punitive damages and federal preemption issues.
Emily was named as the 2018 Lawyer of the Year for Litigation-Intellectual Property in Birmingham by Best Lawyers magazine, which has also recognized her as among the best appellate and commercial litigation lawyers in Birmingham. Emily has been given an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and been designated as an Alabama Rising Star and a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine. Emily was a co-editor of the second edition of Municipalities in Peril, the ABI Guide to Chapter 9, which was published in 2012.
Prior to entering private practice, Emily gained valuable appellate experience clerking for now-Chief Judge Ed Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Her clerkship experience has served her well in the course of representing clients (both parties and amici) on appeal in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, and state appellate courts, including successfully petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court for writ of certiorari.
