About the lawyer
Since joining the firm in 2014, Jonathan Freidin has handled some of the firms most complex medical negligence cases and represented clients in several jury trials involving catastrophic injuries. Jonathan was part of the trial team that obtained a $7 million jury verdict against the rapper 50 Cent and was also part of the team that recovered over $7 million on behalf of the United States government in a whistleblower case involving Medicare fraud. Jonathans practice focuses on medical malpractice, complex personal injury, and whistleblower/qui tam claims. He takes great pride in representing his clients and is recognized throughout the firm for his attention to detail in every case he handles.
Jonathan earned his college degree summa cum laude from the George Washington University in 2009. During college, Jonathan was awarded the Presidential Merit Scholarship and was appointed as a Student Justice on the Universitys disciplinary court. After college, Jonathan returned to Florida and received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2012. During law school, Jonathan was an editor on the Florida Law Review and worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Public Defenders Office, where he represented indigent clients in court. Jonathan also served as a judicial extern for Judge Alan Gold in the Southern District of Florida. He received book awards for the highest grade in both Appellate Advocacy and Child, Parent, the State, and held a position as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research Writing and Appellate Advocacy.
Prior to becoming part of the team at Freidin Brown, P.A., Jonathan served for two years as a federal law clerk to the Honorable Donald M. Middlebrooks in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. While clerking, Jonathan worked on various types of federal matters from start to finish, including actions for patent infringement, tort liability, employment discrimination, civil rights violations, and fraud. He also assisted with several cases on the appellate level when Judge Middlebrooks sat by designation on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Being born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jonathans love for South Florida has steered him toward several leadership positions in the community. Since 2018, Jonathan has sat on the Board of Directors of SAVE, South Floridas leading organization dedicated to protecting the rights of the LGBT community, and was elected Chair of the Board in January 2020. He also serves on SAVEs Endorsement Committee, which interviews and endorses candidates running for office in South Florida. Recently, Jonathan was appointed by Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber to be the Chair of the Safety, Security, and Infrastructure Subcommittee of the Mayors Panel on Ocean Drive. In this role, Jonathan is committed to making Ocean Drive safer and more enjoyable for Miami Beach residents and visitors.
