Harvey Brown joined The Lanier Law Firm in2019 following distinguished service as a District Judge in Harris County andas a Justice on the First Court of Appeals for the State of Texas. Judge Brown is selectedto the list of Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Appellate Law andCommercial Litigation. Before his judicial service he was in private practicefor more than 20 years, handling both trials and appeals.

Judge Brown served on the First Court ofAppeals bench from 2010-2018. During his tenure, he was named Appellate Judgeof the Year by the Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists andMentor of the Year by the Houston Young Lawyers Association and the Texas YoungLawyers Association. He authored more than 1,000 opinions on the court.

Judge Brown presided over the 152nd DistrictCourt in Harris County for more than six years, heard more than 150 jury trialsand 200 bench trials, and served as the chair of a panel that administered thediet drug product liability litigation in Harris County.

He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Lawby the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the American LawInstitute, the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee, the Texas State BarCollege, the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, the Garland Walker American Inn ofCourt, and the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists.Judge Brown is also a life member of the Texas Bar Foundation and the HoustonBar Foundation.

A native Texan, Judge Brown attended highschool in Houston and received his undergraduate degree from The University ofTexas, graduating with high honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. JudgeBrown earned his law degree from The University of Texas, with honors, and wasa member of the Texas Law Review and the Order of Coif.
