An experienced trial lawyer, Tory Chavey has represented employers for nearly 20 years on a wide range of employment issues, from single-plaintiff discrimination cases to discrimination class actions and wage and hour cases. She appears regularly in state and federal courts in Connecticut, as well as New York and other Northeast states. She frequently defends claims in arbitration and at state and federal administrative agencies, and has argued appeals in the Connecticut Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Tory was a partner in the Hartford office of Day Pitney LLP, where she had served as department chair. She graduated from Dartmouth College, cum laude, in 1988 with a degree in Philosophy, and from Boston University School of Law, summa cum laude, in 1992. In law school, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Boston University Law Review. Following graduation, she served as a law clerk to Thomas J. Meskill, senior judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and as law clerk to Ellen Ash Peters, chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
Since 2007, Chambers USA has recognized Tory as a Leading Lawyer, and she also has been recognized consistently as a Connecticut Super Lawyer, included in The Best Lawyers in America, and identified as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in New England and Top 50 Lawyers in Connecticut.
