BACKGROUND
Russ Tarleton hasassisted clients in the procurement and enforcement of patents, trademarks, andcopyrights for almost 30 years. He received a B.S. in Aeronautics (cum laude)from Utah State University (1982) and was awarded his J.D. by the University ofUtah (1986). He received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from theUniversity of Washington (1998).
EXPERIENCE
Russ received theClient Choice Award 2015 for Intellectual Property? Trademarks for the stateof Washington. Established in 2005, Client Choice recognizes those law firmsand partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client carethey provide and the quality of their service. The criteria for thisrecognition focuses on an ability to add real value to clients business aboveand beyond the other players in the market. In his litigation practice, Russhas argued before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which upheld dismissal ofa trademark case in his clients favor. He has experience in over 100 TrademarkTrial and Appeal Board proceedings. His patent prosecution focuses on theelectrical and electro-mechanical arts. He has also lectured in various forumson intellectual property issues and is a Guest Lecturer on IP Law andLitigation at the University of Washington Paralegal Program. Before attendinglaw school, Russ worked as a court reporter in federal and state court and as atechnician with National Semiconductor maintaining microchip manufacturingequipment.

Russ is a member of theUtah State Bar (1992), the Washington State Bar (1987), and is registered topractice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His professionalmemberships include the American Bar Association, the American IntellectualProperty Law Association, and the Washington State Patent Law Association. Hecontributes to his community through volunteer work, including 5+ years as aScoutmaster and Asst Scoutmaster, with Habitat for Humanity (Cambodia in 2010),and teaching at Cambodian Childrens Fund facilities in Phnom Penh (2011). Russwas a Coach with Zino Society, assisting entrepreneurs in preparing competitivepresentations to angel investors, and he is a former member of the KeiretsuForum in Seattle.
