Steven A. "Steve" Lerman - Lawyer in Washington, DC

Steven Lerman is Senior Counsel to Lerman Senter PLLC, a preeminent Washington DC-based communications law firm founded in 1982. Steve served as the firm's Manager from 2000-2017. In the course of his practice, Steve has handled both the corporate and regulatory aspects of myriad television and radio transactions, represented broadcast stations in various areas of FCC regulation and general commercial matters, been involved in many cases involving government intrusion into broadcast content and other First Amendment-related issues, negotiated numerous employment agreements with high level talent and executives in the media industry as well as professional sports rights transactions, and handled various equal employment opportunity related matters, including investigations and dispute resolution. Steve has also represented business executives and prominent on air talent and has negotiated employment contracts, radio syndication arrangements and other commercial contracts on their behalf. His clients have included several of the largest radio companies in the U.S., two of the national broadcast television networks, two prominent radio syndication companies, the flagship station of PBS and nationally syndicated radio talk show talent. He has moderated and participated on panels at broadcast industry conventions and has conducted seminars on various regulatory topics for broadcast organizations. In addition, Steve has been a Member of the Boards of Directors of three public companies (Infinity Broadcasting Corporation, Westwood One, Inc. and Premiere Radio Networks, Inc. ) and one private company (Black Heritage Network, Inc.), as well as two non profit corporations (Active Minds, Inc. and One Can Help). From 2000-2008, he was outside General Counsel of CBS Radio Inc., one of the largest radio companies in the U.S., at the time operating 140 radio stations in 30 markets.
