Ms. Strykers practice is devoted exclusively to estate and trust law, with an emphasis on estate related litigation. She routinely appears in the Orphans Court for audit of executors and trustees accounts, petitions for guardianship, petitions for allowance of principal for guardianship matters, petitions for designation or removal of executors and trustees, and surcharge of fiduciaries. Ms. Stryker also has considerable experience in all phases of estate and trust administration.
In addition, she routinely prepares estate planning documents, including documents providing for the generation-skipping transfer tax, marital deduction, charitable trusts, dynasty trusts and discretionary trusts for disabled persons.
Ms. Stryker received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and social studies from Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA, and her Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law, Villanova, PA. She also holds an Estates and Trusts Specialist Certificate from the Institute for Paralegal Studies in Philadelphia.
Ms. Stryker frequently lectures on topics concerning estate and trust administration, and has served as course planner for PBIs programs titled the Fundamentals of Estate Administration and How to Prepare the Fiduciary and Decedents Final Income Tax Return. In addition, Ms. Stryker is also the editor for the chapter on Tax Planning for the PBI Press publication entitled Estate Planning in Pennsylvania (Revised edition).
Ms. Stryker has been selected as one of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as listed in both Philadelphia magazine (June 2006-2012) and the Thomson Reuters, Legal magazine, Pennsylvania Super Lawyers" 2006 through 2012 editions and Top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania 2008-2009. She also was included in the Best Lawyers in America 25th anniversary edition and Best Lawyers in America (2009-2013).
Ms. Stryker is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is a member of the Fiduciary Litigation and Elder Law Committees. Ms. Stryker is also a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. She is the immediate past Chair of the Philadelphia County Bar Association Probate Section Executive Committee, an elected position. She is a member of (and former Chair of) the Register of Wills and Orphans Court Rules Committee and the Orphans' Court Litigation Committee of the Philadelphia County Probate Section of the Bar, and a member of the Philadelphia County Estate Planning Council, for which she serves on the Board.
She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Third District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Tax Court.
Prior to joining Obermayer in 1996, she practiced estate and trust law for nine years as an associate with Reed Smith Shaw McClay, Philadelphia. Prior to that, she was an associate with Scott Lyons, Warrington, PA, where she served as solicitor to the Springfield Township Zoning Hearing Board in Bucks County. Ms. Stryker was also a law clerk to the Hon. William Hart Rufe III in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas, where she was responsible for all phases of research and preparation of draft memoranda and trial court opinions and orders.
