John J. Britton represents condemmning authorities as well as businesses and individual landowners whose properties are being acquired in eminent domain proceedings. Mr. Britton also has a defense litigation practice primarily in the areas of personal injury and employment law. He also repesents clients in a variety of other real estate litigation matters.
Mr. Britton began his legal career with the State Attorney General's Office. During his career there, he represented the State in eminent domain lawsuits in virtually every county in East and Middle Tennessee.
In 1990, he entered private practice in Nashville where his practice centered around the defense of personal injury and professional malpractice claims. He also began utilizing his experience to represent landowners in eminent domain proceedings.
In 1994, Mr. Britton returned to his hometown of Knoxville and joined Lewis King Krieg Waldrop, P.C.
Mr. Britton is a frequent speaker at C L E programs. Recently, he has prepared and taught seminars across the State on eminent domain issues.
Mr. Britton is a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations. He received his B.A. in 1979, with high honors, and his J.D. in 1982, both from the University of Tennessee.
