Michael is a general business and insolvency litigator, and routinely handles contested matters and adversary proceedings as part of his litigation practice. His roster of clients in the insolvency context includes debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors committees, and chapter 7 and 11 trustees in both individual and corporate cases.

He regularly represents clients in all aspects of litigation, and has successfully litigated numerous matters through trial, including a victory as a first-chair trial counsel in only his fourth year of practice. Michael has a wide-range of advocacy experience in Bankruptcy Courts throughout California, the Central District of California, the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and California Superior and Appellate courts. His litigation successes have resulted in a number of published opinions in favor of his clients.

In the general business context, Michael represents individuals, and small and mid-sized business both in and out of court. He has been extremely successful resolving conflicts through mediation. Michaels litigation focus is inexpensive resolution of matters through aggressive pre-trial advocacy and, when required, Michael is a zealous litigator.

Michael received his law degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, and a business finance degree from the University of Florida. His financial background provides him with the knowledge and insight necessary to efficiently identify and litigate bankruptcy and insolvency issues. Before joining Brutzkus Gubner, Michael managed the consumer bankruptcy department of a small Los Angeles law firm.

Michael is a member of the Insolvency Law Committee (ILC), a standing committee of the State Bar of California Business Law Section, having been appointed to a 3-year term (2016-2019).
