Amy Garber focuses her practice on construction and government contracts, and has significant experience in commercial litigation. She handles construction, arbitration, and litigation matters in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit. In her construction practice, Amy has represented and counseled contractors in cases involving federal and state Miller Act and complex payment disputes, and effected removal, settlement, and/or dismissal of various claims. Amy has also drafted construction contracts and subcontracts by tailoring standard documents to meet client needs, and counseled clients on complex government contract issues. Most recently, Amy second-chaired a Virginia arbitration on behalf of a general contractor involving differing site condition claims and claims for payment under contingent unit price provisions. Amy has also worked on numerous commercial litigation matters, including, for example, effectuating dismissal of a lender discrimination lawsuit which was affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

In addition, Amy has considerable experience in professional responsibility and legal ethics. From 2010-11, she was the Senior Staff Attorney for the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility, an arm of the D.C. Court of Appeals which hears attorney discipline cases, and at her previous law firm she routinely provided internal guidance on complex conflict of interest and other professional responsibility issues.

After graduating Cornell Law School in 2008, Amy practiced commercial litigation at a large DC firm, and most recently practiced construction and general litigation at the DC office of a regional firm.
