Courtney J. Lerias, a Super Lawyers Rising Star, is an associate in the Foreclosure, Title, Real Estate Litigation, and the Cooperative and Condominium Representation Groups. As a member of the Foreclosure Group, Ms. Lerias routinely defends lenders against technical affirmative defenses asserted by defaulting borrowers in foreclosure proceedings.

Ms. Lerias also has extensive experience in title litigation. She has successfully represented title insurance companies in a wide range of cases, including lien priority issues, boundary disputes, forgery, and mortgage fraud.

In addition to her litigation experience, Ms. Lerias represents condominium and cooperative boards on a wide range of issues, including dispute resolution with unit owners and/or shareholders, collections of common charges and/or maintenance, and advising boards on their rights and obligations under the relevant governing documents. She has also successfully represented both condominium boards and condominium developers in litigation over construction defects in new developments.

Ms. Lerias graduated magna cum laude from New York Law School. At New York Law School, she was an Executive Articles Editor for the New York Law School Law Review and a member of the Center for Real Estate Studies Harlan Scholar Program. As a Harlan Scholar for the Center for Real Estate Studies, she worked extensively on two independent research projects, one involving the 2009 foreclosure crisis and one involving the application process to buy shares in cooperative housing.
