Cary J. Mogerman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and currently serves as the Academy's President. He was honored to be recognized as the AAML «Fellow of the Year» for 2018-19. He is one of the 100 Diplomates of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers (ACFTL). He has been listed in «Best Lawyers» since 1999, and was named its «Lawyer of the Year, Family Law, St. Louis» in 2019 and also in 2009. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. The publication known as Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers lists Cary as one of St. Louis' «Top 50 Super Lawyers», as well as one of the «Top 100 Super Lawyers» in Missouri/Kansas. He holds the «AV» rating of the Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory.
In 2017 Cary was appointed to be one of the six members of the Missouri Commission on Retirement, Removal, and Discipline of Judges, by the Missouri Bar Board of Governors.
Cary serves annually on the faculty of the Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute of the ABA and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) in Boulder, Colorado, as well as the Institute for Family Law Associates of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, in Chicago Illinois. In 2008 he was named the Missouri Bar's «Roger P. Krumm Family Law Practitioner of the Year,» an award presented annually to a Missouri family law attorney "...in recognition of excellence, skill, integrity, commitment and dedication to the improvement and advancement of family law practice..." He is a former chair of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and a past-president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Cary's practice is concentrated on dissolution of marriage matters and related appellate practice. He received a JD degree from the Washington University School of Law (1985) and a BA degree from Drake University (1982). He frequently lectures on a variety of topics related to the practice of marital and family law, and has authored articles for legal journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the St. Louis Bar Journal. He is the co-author of the chapters entitled «Conflicts of Law» and «Characterization and Division of Property in Divorce» in the Missouri Bar deskbook entitled Missouri Family Law. In addition to presentations on other family law topics, since 1996 he has presented annual updates on Missouri family law for the Missouri Chapter AAML, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis County Bar Association and the Missouri Bar.
