About the lawyer
Angel is an engaged litigator. Her practice is largely devoted to the representation of law enforcement agencies and their officers in civil rights litigation, as well as labor and employment matters. Angel is well versed in governmental liability and immunities, having worked as an assistant prosecutor before joining the firm in December 2015.
Angel makes it her goal in every case to secure a favorable outcome in the most efficient way possible. She has won summary judgment for clients in numerous cases, on claims ranging from constitutional violations to state torts. But Angel truly thrives in the courtroom.
Angel is not afraid to try a case. She recently obtained a defense verdict in a federal jury trial. In June 2018, she completed the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) National Trial College held at Yale Law School. Angel is now an ABOTA Trial College Fellow.
On top of her experience at the trial court level, Angel is lead counsel on multiple matters pending before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She also appears before state courts of appeals, including the Ohio Supreme Court.
Angel leads presentations and trainings on topics including Ohios Sunshine Laws, workplace investigations and discipline, and sexual harassment. Angel has presented to the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association, Ohio Township Association, and Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, among other notable organizations. She was also a featured presenter for the Ohio State Bar Associations Continuing Legal Education seminar entitled Basics of Employment Law.
