Hendrik, «Henk», Uitherwick died on Thursday, December 10, 2020 (after a short illness). Henk has lived and worked vigorously throughout his life.

A respected trial and injury lawyer, Henk has successfully conducted more than a hundred jury trials in his nearly forty-year career. Henk took and won cases that others could not settle. He loved difficult cases, and his passion was to focus on cases with serious injuries and complex responsibilities. Many of his opponents at the trial comment that Henk was “a fearless lawyer who did not give up."

As a founding partner of Abrahamson & Uiterwyk, Henk attended college and law school in New Orleans at Tulane University (Bachelor's degree, 1968; Doctor of Law, 1970). Throughout his career, Hank has trained and mentored countless young (and now successful) attorneys in the Tampa Bay area. An active and generous member of the Florida Justice Association since 1985, Henk has served on the Board of Directors and held various other leadership positions.

In 2017, Henk received the prestigious «John E. Krupnik Award», awarded annually to a trial lawyer whose efforts reflect tireless commitment and perseverance in the search for justice, overcoming all obstacles encountered. This award was a fitting tribute to the way Henk served all his customers.

Henk was an active member of numerous local organizations and believed in paying tribute to his community. He worked hard, lived a full life and deeply loved his family. When Hank wasn't working, he was happiest with his wife and family, especially when traveling.

Leadership, legal skills, perseverance, friendship and Henk's presence are lacking to many, both in our law firm and beyond.
