James L. Thompson - Lawyer in Rockville, MD

James Thompson has led Miller, Miller Canby's Litigation Practice Group for more than 25 years. He concentrates his practice in eminent domain and real estate valuation litigation, in addition to civil litigation involving complex real estate and business/commercial disputes. Mr. Thompson has also taught trial advocacy. With his record of legal experience, proven results, and mature judgment and leadership within the bar and judicial system, he brings ideal talent and skill to client representation.

Mr. Thompson is a regular lecturer in national eminent domain litigation seminars conducted by ALIABA, as well as in the state of Maryland, where he frequently lectures in CLE activities for lawyers, appraisers, and right-of-way agents. He has authored a variety of articles on the subject of eminent domain and has worked with the Maryland legislature to reform eminent domain laws and protect the rights of property owners. In addition to his work as a trial lawyer, he has served the legal community at large by his service with the county, state and national bar associations, having served as President of both the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Maryland State Bar Association. Among other awards, Mr. Thompson was honored to have been selected by the American College of Trial Lawyers, representing the top 1% of trial attorneys throughout the United States.
