About the lawyer
I graduated from Colgate University in 1973, and went to work in a boatyard building 25-30 foot sailboats for two years. After graduating from the University of Maine School of Law in 1978, I served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Vincent L. McKusick and Associate Justice Charles A. Pomeroy of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. I practiced at the Portland, Maine firm of Thompson, McNaboe, Ashley Bull, from 1979-1994, where I specialized in Admiralty and Maritime law matters. In 1994, I left to help form the firm Tompkins, Clough, Hirshon Langer, P.A., where I was a shareholder from 1994-2010, and where I continued my practice in the Admiralty and Maritime law field. In October, 2010, I joined Thompson Bowie Hatch LLC, where I continue to practice Admiralty Maritime law. I have served in a number of civil organizations, including the Yarmouth Planning Board (Yarmouth, Maine), and on the boards of various non-profit organizations. I currently serve as chairman of the United States District Court Local Rules Advisory Committee.
