Mr. Hermenze received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Beloit College in 1982 and his J.D., cum laude, from the Cornell University Law School in 1986. He is an elected commissioner of Redding Fire District No. 1 and an active member of Redding Fire EMS Co. No.1, having served as company treasurer and a Lieutenant (Engine 2).
