J. Bradford "Brad" McCullough - Lawyer in Bethesda, MD

J. Bradford McCullough is a commercial and business litigator and appellate attorney at Lerch, Early Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland. Brad represents businesses and individuals in a wide variety of cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as before arbitration panels and in mediation proceedings.

Brad is known for taking on complex and challenging business and commercial disputes on behalf of clients from a broad range of industries. He handles shareholders derivative litigation, corporate directors and officers liability claims, business dissolutions, lender liability litigation, disputes concerning non-competition agreements, and matters arising from the Uniform Commercial Code.

His practice also focuses on appellate matters, and he has represented clients in appeals in a wide variety of areas including commercial litigation, family law, tort law, and real estate development. Brad received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from McDaniel College, and he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. After graduation from law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Theodore G. Bloom of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. Brad is admitted to practice law in Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. In addition, he has completed extensive training as a mediator, and has been approved for appointment as a court-appointed mediator in the Circuit Courts throughout the state.

Brad served as co-chair of the Commercial Litigation Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County for eight years, and he has also served on various other sections and committees of that Association. He is a member of the Appellate Practice Committees of the Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association and Maryland State Bar Association. He is a member of the Rules and Statutes Subcommittee of the ABAs Appellate Practice Committee and was previously a Co-Chair of the Dispositive Motions Subcommittee of the ABAs Committee on Pre-Trial Practice Discovery. He also serves on the Program Committee for the Litigation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. He serves or has served on the boards of directors of four local non-profit corporations: Committee for Montgomery, the Montgomery County Police Foundation, Interfaith Works, and the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County.

Brad received the Leadership in Law Award from The Daily Record for his outstanding work throughout the state of Maryland and his mentoring of future professional and community leaders. He is listed in Maryland Super Lawyers in the area of business litigation.

Brad is a frequent lecturer at many seminars and continuing legal education sessions, including seminars sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Georgetown University Law Center, the Maryland Institute of Continuing Professional Education for Lawyers and Lorman Education Services. In conjunction with one of these seminars, he authored materials outlining legal issues guiding document retention, destruction and preservation.

Brad is an avid runner and self-proclaimed exercise addict. He takes pride in his family and is a devoted father to two sons. He follows current events and sports, especially the local University of Maryland Terrapins, Penn State Nittany Lions, Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals, and the not-so-local Manchester United.
