David Biderman, a partner in Perkins Coie's San Francisco and Los Angelesoffices, focuses his practice on mass tort litigation and consumer classactions. On consumer class actions, David represents packaged foodcompanies, coffee companies, dairy companies, footwear companies and otherswhose nutritional or health claims have been challenged. He also hasrepresented search engines and other online companies. He has a record offavorable results for clients. He successfully tried a major consumer fraudclass action on behalf of one of the worlds major search engines in a caseinvolving online gambling advertisements. For that same client, he negotiateda favorable settlement of a class action challenging its online advertisingpricing. He represented a major coffee retailer in defeating a class action onstanding grounds. He also has litigated pre-emption defenses arising out offood labeling and obtained a dismissal for a client whose nutritional statementswere challenged.

David speaks and writes regularly on class actionissues. He has presented to the American Bar Association (ABA), the Federationof Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Product Liability Advisory Group andothers on consumer class actions. David has served the courts through the CivilLitigation Subcommittee of the California Judicial Council, on specialcommittees formed by the state courts to address toxic tort litigation, and as amember of the ABAs American Jury Project.
