Gaetano Ferro is a past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, a past chair of the Connecticut Bar Associations Family Law Section, and a past president of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Mr. Ferro has been named as one of Super Lawyers Magazines top ten lawyers in Connecticut three times and is one of its top one hundred lawyers in New England. He has been continuously listed in Naifeh and Smith, The Best Lawyers in America since 1989. Mr. Ferro has served as Editor in Chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and of the Connecticut Family Lawyer. He was the Connecticut Bar Journals Senior Topical Editor for Family Law and was Executive Editor of the Connecticut Law Review.
Mr. Ferro has authored more than forty published articles on a wide variety of family law topics. Those articles have appeared in the Connecticut Law Tribune, the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Connecticut Bar Journal, the Connecticut Family Lawyer, the Family Advocate, and other publications. His most recent publication is Electronically Stored Information: What Matrimonial Lawyers Computer Forensics Need to Know, 23J. of A.A.M.L. 1 (2010).
Mr. Ferro has lectured and given demonstrations on more than seventy occasions to many different professional organizations including, most recently, the AAMLs first Webinar on Cross-Examination the Business Valuation Expert, the American Bar Association Family Law Sections 24th Trial Advocacy Institute (Cross-Examination of a business valuation demonstration and faculty)(Denver, 2010), the Rhode Island Inns of Court (Cross-examination of a Psychologist demonstration)(Warwick, Rhode Island, 2010), the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts Advanced Symposium (Las Vegas, February 2010), the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Annual Family Law Update (Baltimore, 2009), the American Bar Association Family Law Sections 23rd Trial Advocacy Institute (Final Argument demonstration and faculty, Denver, 2009), the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers annual meeting (Chicago, 2008), the Association of Divorce Financial Planners 6th Annual Conference (Tax Traps)(New York City, 2008), the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers' / the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants biennial Conferences on Divorce (Las Vegas, 2010, 2008, 2006, 2004, 2002), and the American Bar Association Section of Family Laws Fall CLE conference (Memphis, 2007).
Mr. Ferro served on the State of Connecticut Judicial Task Court which created the Family Rules of Court and more recently on the Connecticut Judicial Branch Family Rules Commission.
Mr. Ferro has served, pro bono, as a special Court Master in family and custody cases on numerous occasions in the Middletown, Danbury, Stamford and Bridgeport courts.
