Mr.Marquis has lived in the Las Vegas Valley since 1975, and has been practicinglaw since 1997 when he joined MAC. Mr. Marquis primary practiceareas are in real estate, business, and commercial landlord-tenant fields, but hedoes not represent residential tenants. Mr.Marquis strongly believes that his first priority is to keep his clients out ofcourt by providing sound legal advice and well written agreements that greatlyreduce his clients potential liabilities. Nevertheless, once all otherreasonable options have been exhausted, Mr. Marquis has also proven to be avery successful litigator. For example, he represented clients againstlocal housing developer, James Rhodes, and came away with a judgment in hisclients favor and a payment from Rhodes of over $3.5 million.

Mr.Marquis has significant experience in real estate and development matters inboth the litigation and transactional context. He recently representedthe Boulder City Hospital (a non-profit entity), in its $16 million expansionproject. Previously, he represented the Housing Authority of the City ofLas Vegas in several multi-million dollar developments, and has representedother businesses, developers, real estate owners, and contractors involved inreal estate, construction and business transactions in Clark County.

Inaddition, Mr. Marquis gained much of his real estate experience whilerepresenting the Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS? for over 10 years,during which time he had the opportunity to advise the AssociationsProfessional Standards Panels in over a hundred different REALTOR? ethics andarbitration hearings. Mr. Marquis also has significant experience inadministrative law proceedings, as he has successfully represented clientsbefore the Nevada Contractors Board, the Nevada Real Estate Commission and theNevada Ethics Commission. Further, Mr. Marquis has significantexperience in several other areas of the law, including those laws that controlquasi municipal entities and political officials such as the Nevada OpenMeeting Law (NRS Chapter 241) and the Ethics in Government Law (NRS 281A andNAC 281A). Indeed, while representing the local housing authorities, Mr.Marquis advised their Boards of Commissioners in well over 100 special andregular meetings.
