Mr. Lances practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on real estate cases. In addition to real estate, Mr. Lance represents parties in cases regarding securities, professional liability and other complex business disputes. Mr. Lance regularly represents clients in multi-million dollar disputes.
While in law school, Mr. Lance received the Robert R. Kane scholarship, published three articles for the Washington and Lee Law Review, and was the Executive Editor of the Law Review. He finished fourth in his class and was made a member of Order of the Coif.
Following graduation, he began his practice with a large law firm in St. Louis, Thompson Mitchell (now Thompson Coburn). In January 1990, Mr. Lance moved to San Diego and joined the firm, which was then known as Post Kirby Noonan Sweat. The firm changed its name to Kirby Noonan Lance Hoge in 2006. In 2016, he co-founded Noonan Lance Boyer Banach.
Mr. Lance lives in the Kensington area of San Diego. An active member of the San Diego community, he coached football and baseball for many years. Mr. Lance also is involved in a variety of professional organizations. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and is on the membership committee. He has been involved in the American Inns of Court for many years. as a member of the Louis M. Welsh Chapter and the William B. Enright Chapter. Mr. Lance has served on the board of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and was the editor of the product liability section of the Trial Bar News for more than 10 years. He also has volunteered his time as a speaker in continuing education seminars.
