About the lawyer
After graduating with Bachelor of Arts in history from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., Mr. Davies attended the University of Tennessee College of Law, graduating first in his class in 1993.
Mr. Davies has been with the firm since his first year at the University of Tennessee. He became a partner in January 1999, and today serves as the firm's managing partner. He is also the Immediate Past President of the Knoxville Bar Association and serves on the Executive Committee.
In his criminal defense practice Mr. Davies represents individuals at both the trial and appellate levels. His practice ranges from state court cases to the most complex federal matters. His civil practice includes an emphasis on representing individuals in litigation against the state and federal government and agencies. Mr. Davies represents doctors and other health care providers in criminal, civil and administrative cases. He has served as an expert witness on the standards for defense counsel in criminal cases.
Mr. Davies is named in The Best Lawyers in America. He has achieved the highest ranking given by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory (AV). He is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Knoxville Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been named a Master of the Bench of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court.
His service as President of the Knoxville Bar Association came after having served a full term on the KBA Board of Governors and Executive Committee. Mr. Davies has served two terms on the Board of Directors of TACDL. Mr. Davies has been appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to serve on the Board of Professional Responsibility. He is also the Chair Elect of the Helen Ross McNabb Center Board of Directors.
