Stephen L. "Steve" Williams - Lawyer in Terre Haute, IN

Steve Williams is an experienced trial lawyer. Steve is the owner of the Williams Law Firm, located at 646 Walnut Street in Terre Haute, trial lawyers representing seriously injured people, and also business litigation. Steve is certified in his specialty as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Steve, and his associate Kyle Ring, have a rigorous civil litigation practice, representing people and businesses who have been seriously injured and damaged. Professionally, Steve twice received the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association Trial Lawyer of the Year award, in 1989 and 2001. From 2006-2009 and 2012-2015, he also completed a 3 year terms on Indiana Judicial Nominations/Qualifications Commission, which deals with both the selection and discipline of Indianas judges. In 2015, Steve received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indiana Trial Lawyer's Association. Steve served as Board President of the Terre Haute Boys/Girls Club in 1999, Board President of United Way of the Wabash Valley in 1996, and Board President of Big/Brothers/Big Sisters in 1989. Steve was awarded Sagamore of the Wabash by then Governor Evan Bayh, in 1990, the Alan Rankin Award from Leadership Terre Haute in 1997, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Indiana State University in 1999. After graduating magna cum laude with a J.D. in 1974 from Indiana University Indianapolis Law School, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Indiana Law Review. Steve was admitted to the Indiana State Bar, and to the federal courts in the Northern and Southern District of Indiana in 1974, to the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in 1983, to the Illinois courts in 1998, and to the United States Supreme Court in 2003. Steve and his wife, Carole graduated from Wiley High School in 1967, and were married in 1971, after graduating from ISU. They are members of Memorial United Methodist Church. Steves wife, Carole, recently retired as a special education teacher at Lost Creek Elementary School, and they have two grown sons, and three grandsons.
