Matthew J. "Matt" Clark - Lawyer in Washington, DC

Matt is a partner in the international trade group and amember of the Executive Committee. His practice focuses on adversarialinternational trade proceedings, including antidumping and countervailing dutyproceedings, and international arbitrations.

Over the past 30 years, Matt has represented majorinternational corporations, governments, and associations in matters arisingunder the international trade and customs laws of the United States, the WTOAgreements (and before it the GATT), the NAFTA, and other agreements.

Because these matters often result in appeals to nationalcourts and bi-lateral and multi-lateral tribunals, including internationalarbitration panels, Matt also appears before the US Court of InternationalTrade, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and NAFTA and otherdispute resolution panels. Matt has also advised clients with respect toappeals taken by national authorities to WTO dispute panels and the WTOAppellate Body.

In addition to his extensive trade litigation experience,Matt advises clients on other import and export related issues. He representsclients in investigations, penalty proceedings, audits, and complianceassessments by the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (formerly the UnitedStates Customs Service). He also provides advice and counseling in connectionwith classification, valuation, and country of origin issues.

Matt holds memberships in the Customs and InternationalTrade Bar Association, the American Society of International Law, and the InternationalSection of the District of Columbia Bar.
