Blair E. Kaminsky - Lawyer in New York, NY

A partner at Holwell Shuster Goldberg, Blair Kaminsky has a wide-ranging practice focused on complex commercial litigation, representing both individuals and corporations in litigation and investigatory matters frequently touching on large-scale transactions and the financial services industry. She represents Visa in putative nationwide class actions and dozens of individual antitrust actions brought by some of the largest retail merchants in the world. Blair also represents the Chubb family of insurers in insurance coverage litigation stemming from the opioid epidemic in cases pending in various jurisdictions across the country, including California, Delaware, Ohio, and West Virginia. In connection with the many RMBS putback matters that she has handled for clients including HSBC, U.S. Bank, and Bank of New York Mellon, Blair served as a key member of the Steering Committee for the Putback Plaintiffs in the dozens of RMBS cases pending before Justice Marcy S. Friedman in state court in New York. She also has substantial experience litigating insurance coverage matters.

Blair is actively involved in HSGs pro bono practice. For example, Blair advised a college freshman survivor of sexual assault with respect to her civil rights and potential remedies under the universitys policies and Title IX. She spearheads HSGs relationship with Her Justice, which provides legal services to women living in poverty in New York City, and mentors associates working on their own pro bono matters. Blair has organized several joint HSG-Visa clinics to help Her Justice clients seeking uncontested divorces. As a founding member of HSGs Diversity Inclusion Committee, she also passionately works to advance the firms DEI efforts.

Blair was named to Crains New York Business 2021 list of Notable Women in Law, and received Euromoney Legal Media Groups 2019 Rising Star Award for Best in Litigation: General Commercial. She has also been named to Benchmark Litigations Under 40 Hot List since 2017, and to Profiles in Diversity Journals 2016 Women Worth Watching list. In 2018, she was selected as a member of The American Lawyers first-ever Young Lawyer Editorial Board.

Prior to joining HSG, Blair was an associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen Katz, where she represented JPMorgan in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy litigation and NYSE Euronext in litigation over a contemplated $10 billion merger that would have created the worlds largest stock market.

Blair clerked for the Honorable Judith Rogers of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she was supervising editor of the Harvard Law Review.
