W. Dudley McCarter - Lawyer in St. Louis, MO

Dudley, a founding Member of the Firm, received the 2008 Foundation Award from the Fellows of the St. Louis Bar Foundation for his outstanding contributions to the St. Louis community and legal profession. He is also the recipient of the Lou Czech Award from the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association for his competence, professionalism, and contributions to municipal law (2003). Further, he is a past President of the Missouri Bar (92-93) and the St. Louis County Bar Association (86-87). In addition, Dudley is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the recipient of the Purcell Professionalism Award from the Missouri Bar (award to acknowledge outstanding professionalism by a Missouri lawyer, who consistently demonstrates an exceptional degree of competency, integrity and civility in both their professional and civic activities, 2001) and the Geyer Award from the University of Missouri-Columbia (bestowed for his services to higher education in Missouri) (2004).

He is also a multi-year recipient of the Missouri Bar Foundations W. Oliver Rasch Award, given annually to the author of the most outstanding substantive article published in the Journal of the Missouri Bar (1985, 1989, 2006). Having tried cases in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and in the Missouri Circuit Courts, Dudley is rated AV (the highest rating possible) by Martindale-HubbellSM, and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for the last eight years.

Dudley received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Knox College in 1972, and his J. D. degree in 1975 from the University of Missouri? Columbia. His practice is concentrated in the areas of civil litigation, construction litigation and municipal law. He has authored many published articles on the topics of construction law, municipal law and civil litigation. Dudley has also been named as a Missouri-Kansas Super Lawyer in the areas of Business Litigation and Construction Defense.

Dudley is active in many charitable and civic organizations. He served on the Board of the Childrens Trust Fund of Missouri, the Missouri Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse, and was Chair of that organization from 2001 to 2003. He is currently serving on the Advisory Board of the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. He has been on the faculty of the Missouri Trial Judges College every year since 1997.

Dudley and his wife Elizabeth, who is also an attorney, have three children: Katherine, Elizabeth, and Emily.
