As a judicial clerk, Emily handled a variety of complex civil and criminal litigation at the trial court level, including personal injury and wrongful death claims, class action litigation, multi-district litigation, patent infringement and intellectual property litigation, civil rights litigation, commercial and business disputes, Indian gaming law and pre-trial motions for a variety of felony criminal matters.

Emily graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism, and received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school, Emily was a member of the Competition Team for the Civil Rights Moot Court and a student attorney for the Bankruptcy Clinic where she advised and represented individuals in bankruptcy and debt-related matters.
