John E. Bos, attorney, is Of Counsel with Buhl, Little, Lynwood Harris, PLC. He specializes in Estate Planning, Elder Law, Business Planning, Probate Litigation and Probate and Trust Administration. He is a 1964 graduate of The University of Michigan Law School and also served as Adjunct Professor teaching a seminar on Estate Planning and a class on Estate and Gift Tax law at the law school. Mr. Bos is an accomplished speaker and published author. He is a regular speaker for The Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) presenting programs to other attorneys on various estate planning topics. His published articles and seminar materials can be found in the Michigan Probate Estate Planning Journal, the Michigan Bar Journal, and at ICLE. He is a member of several professional associations, including: State Bar of Michigan, Ingham County Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Greater Lansing Estate Planning Council, and he is a fellow of both the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the Michigan Bar Foundation. He has served as Chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Michigan Bar Association, the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Lansing and Michigan State Universitys Special Counsel to the Office of Planned Giving. In 2001, Mr. Bos received the Michael W. Irish award for outstanding contributions to the estate planning profession and to his community. In 2007, Mr. Bos was the first recipient of the George A. Cooney, Jr. Society Award for outstanding contributions to continuing legal education. Mr. Bos has been recognized since 1995 in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialties of Trusts and Estates as well as Trusts and Estates — Litigation and since 2007 in Michigan Super Lawyers. He has also been recognized in Whos Who in American Law.
