Russ specializes intrademark and technology law, including strategic trademark and copyrightcounseling, internet policy, unfair competition, domain name strategy anddisputes, trademark prosecution and maintenance, licensing, enforcement andlitigation. He received his AB in Psychology from Stanford University and hisJD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

EXPERIENCE

Russ has been anintellectual property attorney for over 20 years with 14 years of in-houseexperience at global technology leaders Microsoft and Intel. Russ served as theglobal head of trademarks at Microsoft, where he led a team of experiencedtrademark professionals in the strategic counseling of Microsofts globalbusinesses on all aspects of trademarks and internet policy development. Russalso served as the manager of Microsofts Copyright and Trade Secret group.Prior to Microsoft, Russ was a senior trademark attorney at Intel Corporation,where he managed a team responsible for the global policing of the Intelcorporate brand. He also previously worked in private practice at a boutique IPlaw firm in Southern California. Russ is a frequent speaker at various IPassociation and CLE events and is the Co-Founder of the annual McCarthyInstitute — Microsoft Symposium, Trademark Law and Its Challenges.

RussellPangborn is admitted to the Washington State Bar, the California State Bar, theU.S. District Court-Central District of California, and the U.S. DistrictCourt-Northern District of California. He is active with the InternationalTrademark Association (INTA), having served multiple terms on the Board ofDirectors for INTA and as a member of INTAs Executive Committee. He previouslyserved in officer ranks with the organization through Vice President, and hasserved on numerous committees. Russ is also active with ICANN. He has served asa member on the Intellectual Property Constituency and was a founding member ofthe Brand Registry Group. He also participated on the ImplementationRecommendation Team (IRT) for ICANN.
