Karen E. Evans, apartner with The Cochran Firms Washington, D.C. office, has representedclients in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Throughout her 23-year career as trialattorney, she has successfully prosecuting a wide variety of high-stakeslitigation matters. From 1995 to 2000,she successfully defended and won in excess of 92% of all serious medicalmalpractice cases tried to jury verdict. Since 2000, she has used the combination of her experience as aregistered nurse and zealous trial advocacy skills to pursue claims on behalfof her clients. Karen has successfullytried and settled numerous cases in the seven and eight-figure ranges.
Karen is an active member of the Trial Lawyers Associationof Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and is the Immediate Past President andcontinues to serves on its Executive Committee. She is also an active member of the Washington Bar Association and iscurrently 1st Vice President. She also serves as President of the WashingtonBar Association Educational Foundation. Before law school, Karen was a Captain in the United StatesAir Force Nurse Corp and practiced medical/surgical and intensive care nursingfor ten years. She began her legaleducation at Texas Tech University School of Law where she was selected for LawReview. After her first year of study, she transferred to The University ofNorth Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.)in 1990.
Karen is also a member of the American Association of NurseAttorneys and has been profiled and featured in its members recognitionsection. She has been an invited speaker and guest lecturer at the request ofvarious legal associations and groups, including the D.C. Bar, The GeorgeWashington University Law Center, the Virginia Nurses Association, the D. C.Superior Court Judicial Training session committee, the DC Trial Lawyers Association,the Ohio Association for Justice and the Maryland Association for Justice. Ms.Evans is a member of the state and federal Bars in the District of Columbia,Maryland, and Virginia. She was anAdjunct Professor of Law at the University of the District of Columbia David A.Clarke School of Law from 2005-2012 and she currently serves as a mediator forthe D.C. Superior Court.
