Michael Hartmann is activein all phases of intellectual property law with an emphasis in intellectualproperty litigation and technology protection and transfer in the United Statesand internationally. He has acted as leadtrial counsel in jury and bench trials, International Trade Commissioninvestigations, and related pre-trial and appellate proceedings in diversetechnical fields. These includesoftware, telecommunications, machine vision and semiconductor manufacturing, oilfield drilling and geophysics technology, subsea electrical and opticalconnectors, standby power generation, ethylene oxide catalysts, molecular sievezeolites, polymeric lenses and membranes, x-ray film emulsions, pharmaceuticalsand blood filtration, gypsum wallboard manufacture, and mechanical devices. His international experience includesdirecting legal proceedings in courts in England, Germany, and France, as wellas before the European and Japanese Patent Offices. He has participated in a number of major domesticand international technology transfer and licensing transactions.

Mr. Hartmann was born inFrankfurt, Germany and is fluent in German. Prior to joining the firm, he served on theengineering staff of Mobil Oil Corporation (now ExxonMobil) and worked as anintern with a German patent firm. He haslectured before several groups, including the American Intellectual PropertyLaw Association, the Practicing Law Institute, and at German professionalconferences. He is a member of a numberof national and international professional organizations. Mr. Hartmann served as president of the firmfrom 2009 to 2015.
