Maureen has 38 years of experience in cutting-edge, high-stakes, complex litigation locally and nationally.
She has first-chaired significant cases of first impression and precedent-setting trials and appeals. Her experience includes jury trials, bench trials, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration. She has tried cases in numerous jurisdictions across the country and has handled appeals in the Fourth, Seventh, Ninth, and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Maureen has argued before the Colorado Supreme Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Maureen leads the Products Liability team, co-leads the firms International Arbitration team, and handles ICSID, ICC, ad hoc and other arbitrations throughout the world.
Although Maureens experience spans a wide variety of subject matters, her primary areas of focus are product liability, labor and employment, and commercial litigation. Her product liability work has encompassed pharmaceutical and medical devices, blood and blood products, food and beverage, agricultural products, asbestos, oil and gas equipment, radiant heating systems, and numerous other products. She has led multi-week/month trials and negotiated national class action settlements. She has also handled cases involving business torts, personal injury and medical malpractice, antitrust, oil and gas, toxic torts, and other areas.
Prior to joining Holland Hart, Maureen was a law clerk for the Honorable Robert H. McWilliams of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1992, Maureen was one of three nominees by the Governor for a judgeship on the Colorado Court of Appeals. Maureen served as Holland Harts Managing Partner from 1988 to 1991 and served on the firms Management Committee from 2004 to 2006.
Maureen teaches annually at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and lectures frequently on trial advocacy. She has published articles on topics related to trial advocacy, product liability, employment law, and other subjects.
Maureen has served the firm in a number of strategic leadership roles, including as the first female Managing Partner, and most recently as the Commercial Litigation Practice Group Leader.
